Some of the projects and events produced by Agency Films:

Every year Agency Films hosts the "Asheville REJECTS Film Festival". Their festival rivals the official Asheville Film Festival in order to give true local independent film makers a fighting chance to get their films shown. Last year the festival produced quite a reaction in the media when it was learned that the City of Asheville threatened to sue the younger independently financed outfit.

Agency Films and the Rejects Film Festival will also be featured in a major motion picture documentary on the life of 'parasite film festivals'. The winner of the 2006 Asheville Film Festival best feature, Paul Osborne (Ten 'til Noon), has recently finished a film called "Official Rejection". The film features such notables as Kevin Smith, Lloyd Kaufman, Tracy Lords, Andy Dick and Agency Films speaking on matters of independent film and the plight of the 'parasite film festival'. Official Rejection will premiere in L.A. this fall.
The 2nd annual 2007 "REJECTS" Festival was a huge event and featured over 30 films submitted from various local and global film makers. Troma films Lloyd Kaufman was in attendance and was honored as the lifetime achievement recipient. Nelson Roberts film Stiff won best in show and will also be going to Utah for screening at Tromadance 2008.

In addition to the Rejects project, this spring Agency Films will host the second leg of their cross-country, traveling film festival, the Hobo Film Festival. The Hobo Film Festival will highlight the underground world of train hopping and tramping in America. Many films have been made on this lifestyle of wanderlust, danger and excitement. Agency Films has compiled a collection of these short and feature length films that screened last summer on the 9,000 mile HFF tour in L.A., Chicago, Seattle, Portland and many other cities. The last stop of the trip was the National Hobo Convention in Britt, Iowa. Every year train riders from around the world gather in Britt for a weekend long event that commemorates the life and history of the hobo. Agency Films is proud to be a part of that legacy. The spring leg will follow the eastern seaboard from Miami to Maine and is set to kick off in April.

Besides hosting festivals, Agency Films is also dedicated to writing, directing and producing 'zero dollar budget' films and video. Recently major network SF TV from Switzerland flew to the states to do a 2-week documentary on the lives of Agency Films and their train riding, film making adventures. Agency Films and SF TV traveled From Asheville, NC to Denver, CO. by train, car and helicopter, filming everything along the way. The end result will be a TV documentary premiering on SF TV in Switzerland and then later in the states.

What else is Agency Films doing? Well the list goes on. They also produce a local cable show in Asheville on URTV (Charter Cable channel 20) called "Never Ask Permission". It airs Fridays at midnight. The show is, in its barest form, a look into the lives of these independent film makers and what drives, inspires and motivates them. Never Ask Permission includes short films from all across the country and locally in Asheville. The show also includes a wide range of humorous and informative material. From live music and band interviews to adventure traveling, D.I.Y. style how to's, train hopping, skate boarding and free style comedy. Right now the show is featuring an in-depth look at the underground graffiti scene in North Carolina. It will include interviews with local artists, business owners and police. Never Ask Permission is becoming a big hit in Asheville since there is such a huge local presence represented in every episode.

Agency Films also has a large viewer ship on the hit web site You Tube. They recently generated quite a lot of buzz when they did an ambush interview with one of You Tube's biggest celebrities, Johnnie TV. After finding out where he lived, Agency Films showed up at Johnnie TV's doorstep to take over his show and ended up conducting an incredibly informative and personal interview late into the night. From this kidnap style meeting Agency Films produced an hour long documentary on the entire trip.

Agency Films is also working on a feature length socio-documentary on why long term relationships ultimately fail, a live performance and interview for the band 'The Thermals' (Sub Pop records), a behind the scenes look at the Swiss Television trip, a pilot for a 30 minute TV series, and planning a 16,000 mile film making mission along the entire length of the Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina.

These guys are true, blue collar, DIY film makers that are not afraid of breaking the mold in the film industry or breaking even in their film projects.
